An interactive outdoor fun day for all the family Starting at 10am on Saturday INTERACTIVE WORKSHOPS: Rudry Rocks with Fiona Lewis: #RudryRocks #smilestones is an informal international, fun activity for people of any age or artistic ability to get creative and to explore the outdoors - decorating stones and hiding them for others to find. Paint your stone, write #rudryrocks on the back and your own hashtag i.e. #borisrocks, take some photos and post onto Facebook group and hide!! When you find a stone, take a photo and post it on Rudry Rocks Facebook page using the hashtags and rehide in a new place!! We will be providing an opportunity at the festival to get artistic and have a go at painting stones in order to take part in this fun activity. We look forward to seeing you there! Upcycle Puppet Making Workshop with Anne Raymond: An opportunity to make puppets from upcycling materials. Use your imagination to turn everyday materials into magic. Science Workshop with Alex: make your own electric motors and experiment with robotic hands, and take a good look around the International Space Station using VR headsets. ‘Motor Madness’ will involve making small electric motors from batteries, pieces of wire and magnets. Or try your hand at building a robotic hand from card, straws and string. Storytelling and Drama Workshop: (Age group four – twelve) Jane King is back. She will be weaving her magic in the storytelling circle in the woods, making amazing stories linked to the magic of wildlife, mask making and face painting. Storytelling with Onamatapia and Bumble Dore: ﷯ ﷯ Outdoor learning and bush craft Zone: After the success last year of the woodcraft sessions and wild life jaunts, this year we have decided to offer more opportunities to experience the wonders and importance of protecting our natural environment. Rudry Common Trust They will be leading natural history tours, finding dormice and identifying bird song as well as other exciting creepy crawlies. Cardiff & Vale Bee Keepers These experienced volunteers will hold Bee demonstrations, showing a hive (without live bees). This is a great opportunity to learn from the experts on how to keep bees and to sample and buy products. Woodland Trust A chance to learn about the woodland trust and the importance of trees which will include interactive activities for children. Welcome To Our Woods Back by popular demand Welcome to our woods will be running forest skills and green wood working as well as looking after the fire pit and toasting marshmallows. This activity needs appropriate adult supervision if the child is under 16. RSPB New to the festival RSPB will be having a stall with lots of information about preserving our birds and identifying the birds of the area. ﷯ PERFORMANCE: Dance Performance & Workshop: Community youth dance company who run an open door policy (anyone can join). Performing pieces which reflect issues of the day. Louise is running dance workshops with year five and six at Rudry Primary school on the theme of the environment. An integrated 30 minute performance with her dance troupe. It will start at 12pm on the field. New and exciting this year Citrus Arts: We are delighted to welcome the renowned Citrus Arts, a South Wales performing Arts company who wow all who come into contact with them by combining Circus, dance and drama with their love of the great outdoors. They will be offering “have a go” circus workshops in aerial and manipulation (juggling, hula hoops, plate spinning). Their youth company Citrus Pips will be performing walk about. No experience necessary all ages welcome.
